We’re off down to London at the start of november, with a stop in Manchester on the way back up.
“Go go gadget private jet!”
If you are near one of these, it would be great to see you. Hoots!

Glasgow’s jazz fusion pioneers dBass are currently working on jamming with visuals for gigs in the future, and they asked me to film a wee session they had the other month with artist Fergus Dunnet.
It was great to be involved. The resulting vids can be seen below:

I like to download it and listen to it on the bus. I have laughed out loud on more than one occassion.
Last week a woman sat across the aisle from me and started singing along to Take That on her headphones. It was remarkably tuneless. I tried to record it on my phone but you can’t really make it out.
Anyway, this made me laugh too. But PodcART is a more consistent source of bus-ride chuckles.

Chris Tapehead and I recently recorded Charlot Webster’s new EP.
It is a thing of beauty and we had a really good laugh making it.
You can hear some of the tracks on HER MYSPACE
and you can buy the EP from HER WEBSHOP
Buy one of her kazoos while you’re at it. There are very few reasons not to.
I got an amazing ‘thank you’ goody bag from her in the post this morning. I shall be spending the rest of the day recording voice memos on my new dinosaur pen.
Thank YOU Charlot! x

The lovely folk at Glasgow PodcART played ‘Taken In’ on their latest podcast and said some things that generally made me feel rosey in the cheeks.

So I played at Trampoline last night c/o the Wee Red Bar, and Animal Magic Tricks was booked too, but she had to pull out at the last minute. (Get well soon, Frances!)
She was also meant to be playing at the first ever Song, By Toad house gig tonight too so, in an effort to fill the void, Mr Toad kindly asked if I’d like to play a set along with Meursault & The Japanese War Effort.
Shid be gid. Tix HERE if you fancy it.
ps.big thanks to Iona for her excellent cameo performance & mic-stand-rescue-mission last night! And to Panda Su & Adam for coming all the way from Dundee (!) to watch me cook under the stage lights.

Right.
You might be wondering why you’ve arrived at a Jonnie Common website when you tried to visit a Down the Tiny Steps one.
The answer is simple = I have changed my name.
Actually, it’s even more simple than that = I have started using my real name.
Why?
Well, lots of reasons but mainly because Craig, Chuck and I decided we wanted different things. So, sadly that was the end of the power trio, and though I started DTTS on my own, I never really felt alone til now. I don’t want to be called Down the Tiny Steps. I just want to be myself.
All that really needs to be said is a huge THANK YOU to everyone who played under or flew the DTTS flag.
I love you all more than you know.
(And will continue to do so whether you like it or not.)
So, yeah.
xxx
Ps. come see me play at Trampoline (Wee Red Bar, Edinburgh) on August 8th.
It’ll be a kindof bespoke set in lieu of me deciding how I want to function live now. I am nervous, but looking forward to it. My pal, Iona Marshall will be joining me for a song.
Hoots!
